Why Is Change So Difficult Even Though It's Constant...?

August 12th was a day like many of my days this summer. It was a beautiful night and I was enjoying a great tennis match. My tennis partner and I had just finished saying how well everything was going during a break for water. I was confident we would win the match, and as we stepped back onto the court to claim our victory my fate was about to take a turn. In my usual competitive nature, I chose to go for a ball that was very out of reach and in my attempt, I fell and completely shattered my left wrist. The pain was like nothing I'd ever felt and I was rushed to the hospital where I found out I would probably need surgery. It's been approximately one month since all of this happened, and this one month has felt like three.

You may be wondering..."What does this have to do with changing your mind and becoming the boss of your brain?" In a word, everything.

If you have hung out in my world for any amount of time, then you know that I talk a lot about the process of changing ourselves to become a healthier and happier version of the person we long to be. Sometimes, that change comes unexpectedly. From my life experience, I know that even when change feels unwelcomed, it is always working for us, not against us.

When change hurts, it can be a hard concept to embrace. Nevertheless, change is our friend.

It's a lot easier to stay the same. This is why, this month, I am using September as an opportunity to reflect and rebirth certain areas of my life. I invite you to join me.

Below is a list of how dysfunction shows up in your life. Your life does not have to be one of struggle, strife, and stress. You have the power to grow your life and become a person who is calm, centered, and connected to their clarity. Changing our minds and becoming the boss of our brain takes knowledge, understanding, and repetition. It requires unlearning unhealthy thoughts and behaviors and stepping into a new version of ourselves.

That doesn’t happen overnight. So, if you resonate with 5 or more of these symptoms, and you are exhausted and ready to transform your life, continue reading to discover how you can begin this journey of change.

Symptoms of Dysfunction:

  • Staying busy. Putting self last.

  • Not speaking up for yourself.

  • Passive-aggressive behavior.

  • Gossiping.

  • Talking down to yourself.

  • Frequent feelings of anger, fear, or sadness.

  • Believing life can’t improve.

  • Refusing to ask for help.

  • Procrastination.

  • Frequent chaos.

  • Feeling stuck.

  • Breaking promises to self or others.

  • Goals not met. Backsliding.

  • Money confusion and chaos.

  • Secrets.

  • Perfectionism.

  • No boundaries.

  • Lack of trust (self and others).

  • Lack of intimacy.

  • Avoidance of conflict, or fighting that turns physical

Don't live another day hoping and waiting for things to change. It's time for you to take the reins of your life and step into your innate power. I know it can feel scary as hell, but it's a lot more frightening to live feeling out of control with no end in sight to the suffering.

Reflect on these symptoms and ask yourself: are you ready to become the boss of your brain? If this resonates with you, let's start a conversation about how I might be able to help you on this transformative journey. Together, we can pave the way to a brighter, more empowered you.
